Zoe Saldana

Idk what's up with me && the Z's but apparently they're doing something, cause today's word is :Zoe... Saldana. From going to underdog and not well known in "Drumline" to being top-notch and THAT bitch, she def. gets respect. Also she gets kudos for complimenting herself by saying she knows that she's small, with very little shape, but when she comes into a room, she commands attention... Bad bitch. SN even though her home country of the Dominican Republic [although she was born in the US] has a long bitter history of prejudiced towards the darker-skinned, she still considers herself a black woman. : )

Little Dragon

Mondays.... Ugh. Unlike everyone else, I'm gonna start Monday off right. New music... To my ears anyway. One of my friends posted a link of a Swedish-bred electric jazz band Little Dragon. Their first album came out in 2007, but it was mostly only heard in Europe as they were touring there. The lead vocalist is Swedish/Japanese, but she reminds me of an American jazz singer with an acid (genre) infusion. For now, my favs are "Stormy Weather" && "Constant Surprises." Trentemoller/Quantic + soft clean vocals = Little Dragon

Art of Noise

Sooo... I thought since I'm new to this, my first post will be something that I'm really familiar with... music. I can't say how tired I am of the typical, Gucci Mane, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne... the list of artists I'm getting tired of goes on... I really wish people would learn to diversify themselves and look outside of the box to find music that's different. Call me a politician, but I really get tired of listening to lyrics ab: drugs, sex, money, && hood politics. I'm sorry, none of that shit does ANYTHING for me. And I mean, call me crazy, but they don't do much for anyone else, or we would all be much better off... Sigh. Anyway, what I'm addicted to right now, crazy techno/borderline hippie/sixties acid music, as I like to call it. If you're looking for music about NONSENSE that makes more sense than mainstream bullshit, look no further than MGMT, Passion Pit, The Faint, The Kooks, && Empire of the Sun. They get kudos from me for their non-typical beats, melodies, and lyrics... Catchy but not cheesy... Bold but not offensive... All in all, win.
